The film “Suzzanna: Black Magic, Sin Above Sin” has officially released its official trailer with the tagline “When power oppresses, it’s time for black magic to begin.” Luna Maya returns as Suzzanna, wielding dark powers in the latest horror-action film produced by Sunil Soraya and directed Azhar Kinoi Lubis.
Press Screening & Press Conference event was held at Studio 3, XXI Plaza Senayan South Jakarta, on Saturday (14/03). The film is scheduled to be released simultaneously in Indonesian cinemas starting March 18, 2026, coinciding with Eid al-Fitr.
This film marks a new chapter in the journey of the character Suzzanna, played by Luna Maya. This time, Suzzanna no longer appears as a sundel bolong (a woman with black magic), but as a woman with black magic powers who awakens to seek revenge.
Synopsis
Suzzanna (Luna Maya) is loved by Bisman (Clift Sangra), the cruel and power-hungry village ruler. To maintain his power, Bisman casts a black magic spell on Suzzanna’s father, leading to his death. Grief and anger drive Suzzanna to study black magic to exact revenge.
However, while carrying out her mission, Suzzanna realizes that Bisman’s power is far greater than she imagined. Amidst this dark journey, Suzzanna falls in love with Pramuja (Reza Rahadian), a devout man who is completely unaware of Suzzanna’s dark secret. Ultimately, Suzzanna must choose: continue her revenge or risk everything for love.
This film is directed by Azhar Kinoi Lubis and stars a cast of renowned actors, including Luna Maya, Reza Rahadian, Clift Sangra, Djenar Maesa Ayu, Adi Bing Slamet, El Manik, Yatti Surachman, Iwa K, Nunung, Petrix Gembul, Azis Gagap, Ence Bagus, Sabar Bokir, Budi Bima, and Piet Pagau.
“This film marks a new chapter in the Suzzanna IP, which will create a new history in Indonesian cinema,” said director Azhar Kinoi Lubis.
Featuring the horror-action genre, this film not only offers entertainment but also a reflection on human values, injustice, and the abuse of power, relevant to current social conditions.
“The film Suzzanna: Santet Dosa di Atas Dosa (The Black Magic of Sins Above Sins) speaks of oppression by those in power, about sinful and innocent people in the midst of power. This story is highly relevant to the current situation, with a cinematic experience that we have enhanced from previous Suzzanna films,” said Sunil Soraya, producer.
In this film, Soraya Intercine Films also applied the latest visual technology to the character of Suzzanna. Rather than relying solely on prosthetic makeup, the production team researched archives of Suzzanna’s original films and created a CG base mesh of Suzzanna’s face, which was applied frame by frame to the prosthetic during post-production. This approach was taken to keep Luna Maya’s expressions and emotions alive in Suzzanna’s iconic face.
